The Love and Thunder writer didn’t know the credit scene

Thor: Love and Thunder spoilers follow.

The co-author of Thor: Love and Thunder revealed that she was as surprised to see this mid-credit cameo as the next Marvel fan.

Jennifer Kaytin Robinson worked on the screenplay for the fourth Thor film with director Taika Waititi. As is often the case with the MCU, some things have been kept under wraps, including that Ted Lasso star cameo. (Last spoiler warning for those who haven’t watched love and thunder just now.)

In the mid-credit scene, Russell Crowe’s Zeus complains about being disrespected by Thor, Jane, Valkyrie, and Korg. He speaks directly to Hercules, the camera pans to reveal actor Brett Goldstein in demigod attire.

“I saw this at the premiere with everyone,” Robinson said. Variety.

“The same way I guess Taika didn’t know Thor was coming back, I didn’t know Roy Kent was Hercules. I’m a huge Marvel fan, so I was thrilled to have a moment in the movie where I was really surprised.”

Did Marvel really leave the screenwriter of the film in the dark about this? Well, it seems there have been some whispers…

“I knew we were talking about Hercules,” Robinson explained.
