Expertly customize product documentation for technical and non-technical user audiences as the next technical writer sought by an innovative global software document management solutions company. The role will also involve researching and creating copies, designing, building, structuring, editing, formatting and styling all user manuals, help files, reference guides, user guides APIs, FAQs, Tips & Tricks, Release Notes, and Case Studies. You will need an excellent command of English and a good understanding of technology and software, a talent for absorbing and synthesizing complex documents into structured and readable documentation, experience in writing technical documentation and/or software manuals and broad exposure to different content creation tools, e.g., Adobe Acrobat, RoboHelp, InDesign, Captivate, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, etc.

Homework:

  • Produce expertly tailored product documentation for technical and non-technical user audiences.
  • Source and create, copy, design, build, structure, edit, format and style all product documentation, including:
  • User manuals
  • Help files
  • Reference Guides
  • API guides
  • FAQs, tips and tricks
  • Release Notes
  • Case studies
    • Liaise and coordinate with Product Manager, Developers, Services and Support teams to gather understanding, feedback, review and approval.
    • Manage the repository, version control and release of all product documentation.
    • Analyze and conduct research on the use of documentation and make recommendations accordingly.
    • Assist with content and scripts for eLearning materials.
    • Participate and contribute as a key member of the Scrum product development team.
    • Track product development daily to document changes and new enhancements.
    • Become a true product expert.

Requirements:

  • Excellent command of English and good understanding of technology and software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Talent to absorb and synthesize complex documents into structured and readable documentation.
  • Experience writing technical documentation and/or software manuals.
  • Experience working directly with software development teams.
  • Confidence in coordination and collaboration with multiple stakeholders at different levels.
  • Advanced word processing skills in general and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word in particular.
  • Good working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office suite, web browsers and applications.
  • Wide exposure to different content creation tools e.g. Adobe Acrobat, RoboHelp, InDesign, Captivate, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Must be a South African citizen or hold a valid work permit.

Advantageous –

  • Degree or diploma with IT and/or English subjects highly.
  • Education or experience in IT or software development.
  • Experience in MadCap Flare.
