Science writer talks Maine nature, life August 31 – Knox County VillageSoup

ST. GEORGE – Jackson Memorial Library, 71 Main St., is hosting an author talk with Margie Patlak on Wednesday, August 31 at 5 p.m. Patlak will talk about her book, “More Than Meets the Eye: Exploring Nature and Loss on the Coast of Maine.”

Patlak was eager to learn more about the surroundings of her new home on the Schoodic Peninsula when she set out to write a Maine nature book 10 years ago. But soon it also became a book about what nature in Maine taught him about the nature of life.

Patlak is an award-winning science writer and memoirist who has written hundreds of articles on the environment, neuroscience, biomedical research and technology for popular publications such as Discover magazine, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, The Philadelphia Inquirer and many more. . His personal essays, including one nominated for a Pushcart Prize, have appeared in several literary journals and newspapers. She has degrees in botany and environmental studies and divides her time between Philadelphia and Corea, Maine.
