Obi-Wan Kenobi writer Joby Harold teases a hunt for the remaining Jedi who escaped the brutal Revenge of the Sith massacre in the upcoming Disney+ series

Obi Wan Kenobi Writer Joby Harold teases a hunt for the remaining Jedi in the upcoming Disney+ series. Obi Wan Kenobi is perhaps the most anticipated series coming to Disney star wars universe to date. Many fans were thrilled to learn that Ewan McGregor, who originally starred in the star wars prequel trilogy, will once again return to his iconic role as Obi-Wan in the new series. Obi Wan Kenobi will follow the iconic Jedi Master after the events of Revenge of the Sith as he watches over young Luke Skywalker as he hides from the Empire on the desert planet of Tatooine. After a very long wait, Obi Wan Kenobi is set to begin streaming May 27.

VIDEO OF THE DAY

According to its authors, Obi Wan Kenobi is set 10 years later Revenge of the Sith. As many may recall, this movie didn’t end in such a happy place. Anakin Skywalker (played by Hayden Christensen, who will also return in the new series) turned to the dark side and became Darth Vader. He led the Empire’s slaughter of the Jedi Order in one of the saddest sequences in the prequels. Of course, some of the Jedi were able to survive Order 66. Over the years, star wars canon revealed that other than Obi-Wan and Yoda managed to escape, and that will be a key aspect of Obi Wan Kenobi.

In a recent interview with EO, series writer Harold spoke about the world viewers will find themselves in Obi Wan Kenobi episode 1. According to Harold, 10 years later the Empire is still occupied “erasure” the Jedi order. Harold revealed that this includes a few Jedi who actually managed to survive Order 66 and are now on the run. Harold went on to say that the series will see that “Vador and his inquisitors pursue them to the ends of the galaxy.” See his full quote below:

“It takes place 10 years later Revenge of the Sith, in a period of darkness in the galaxy. The Empire is on the rise. And all the horrors that come with the Empire are manifesting across the galaxy. And the Jedi Order as we know it is all but wiped out. So everything that was in the prequels fell apart.”

“These surviving Jedi, those who survive, are on the run and in hiding. And Vader and his Inquisitors pursue them to the ends of the galaxy.”

Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi Life on Tatooine

Glimpses of Vader’s hunt are seen in the Obi Wan Kenobi trailer, which features the Grand Inquisitor making his live debut, as well as Moses Ingram’s Inquisitor Reva on Tatooine in Search of Jedi. While there are still several story details being kept under wraps, it’s clear based on the marketing that the Inquisitors are going to serve as the main antagonists. Perhaps this is what forces Obi-Wan away from Tatooine for a while as he works to stop the threat. Not only would Obi-Wan want to help his fellow surviving Order 66 survivors, but eliminating the Inquisitors would also protect young Luke Skywalker from the clutches of the Empire. The official Obi Wan Kenobi The plot synopsis teased the crucial mission of the Jedi, and taking on the Inquisitors fits that bill.

It will be interesting to see if Obi Wan Kenobi sees Obi-Wan team up with another Order 66 survivor. There are several cast members whose characters are unconfirmed, and one of them might be playing a Jedi. As the show begins, Obi-Wan is going to be broke and unfaithful, believing the fight is lost. His bow on Obi Wan Kenobi is designed to bring it to a place closer to where it is A new hope. Pairing him up with another Jedi, seeing that there are others in the galaxy doing what they can to fight against the tyranny of the Empire would be a great way to achieve that goal. By the time the original trilogy begins, the Inquisitor program had ended, so Obi Wan Kenobi could reveal their fate.
