McPaul Smith brings a wealth of experience in children’s and preschool entertainment to his new role. He began his writing career on the MTV game show, Remote, before serving as editor of the iconic PBS show, Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego. He then wrote for PBS reading rainbow and Disney Channel The New Mickey Mouse Club, before joining Nickelodeon, where he held several roles, including head writer and lyricist for the animated musical series, People at the back yard. He wrote songs for Disney Channel shows, Bear in the Big Blue House and Bear Book, and for Sprout House on Universal children.
Smith was also an executive at BBC America, where he led a team of producers, writers and editors in creating the network’s hosted promotions, trailers and daytime packaging. More recently, McPaul created live-action games for the syndicated children’s variety series, Wonderamawrote scripts for the PBS animated series, arthur and Molly from Denali, and was head writer for the Netflix animated show Charlie’s City of Colored Shapes. He has co-created several children’s podcasts for Pinna and writes and produces songs for the new preschool video series, hippo park.
