Kit Harrington aka Dane Whitman was almost in Moon Knight says editor Jeremy Slater. As you know, several connections were planned between Moon Knight and the other MCU projects that never came to fruition. In my opinion, these were not necessary. Moon Knight was able to stand on his own two feet so to speak without them.
A new connection not mentioned until now was the idea of Dane Whitman appearing. For those who don’t know, all 5 of you, Whitman, played by thrones Alumnus Kit Harrington has only made one Marvel appearance so far. Harrington appeared as Whitman in Eternals. Although Whitman’s role in the film was small, the tease is of course that he will become much more. Going through the comics, and teasing at the end of Eternals, Whitman will eventually become the hero Black Knight. We currently have no idea where Whitman will show up next. The only rumors so far suggest he could appear in either night werewolf Special Halloween or the Blade film.
However, as Slater explained recently, the character almost appeared in Moon Knight.
“We talked a bit about Dane Whitman just because he works in a history museum and that might be a natural interaction. My feeling was if we brought in Kit Harrington and he didn’t dress up and kick ass, as a fan, I’m pissed,” the writer told ComicBook.com.
“If I see him show up, I want to see him become a full-fledged Black Knight. Just seeing an interaction where he walks past and says “Oh hey Steven”, who responds “Oh hey Professor Whitman!” It felt like it would be a waste of the money it would cost Kit Harington there,” adds Slater.

“Also, there’s not much you can do to tease these revelations before people get frustrated,” the writer concludes. “There was no room in those first two episodes for him to dress up and play Black Knight in the script, so we ultimately decided it didn’t make sense to make that connection. is something we definitely talked about a few days in the room.
Once again I haveWe agree that this wasn’t the right place to introduce Black Knight. I also agree that using Harrington for a per scene walk is a complete waste of time and money. I guess Harrington is not cheap. Thinking of the story we’ve entered Moon Knight, introducing Black Knight would have been a waste. What is Whitman’s family history and what happened after we heard Blade warn Whitman against using the ebony blade in Eternals? What would he have done and stay for the entire series?
Ultimately, all it would have done is serve the Black Knights origin story while removing Marc Spector’s origin.
Even though Dane Whitman was almost in Moon Knight According to editor Jeremy Slater, I think everyone involved in Moon Knight made the right calls by removing cameos that made no sense and wasted money. I will say though that it was probably a dodgy movie given how the MCU works normally, but it worked.
What do you think? Would you have liked to see Whitman in Moon Knight? Or do you agree with me that the right call was made? As always, leave your thoughts below or above on our Discord server.
