A play by a Cumbrian playwright will be shown in Manchester and London in July.
The room is called On me and is set on the set of a fictional true-crime television series. A romance ensues between two actors Shona and Christian.
The play explores themes such as gender-based violence and women’s safety in a sensitive and sometimes humorous way.
Caroline Lamb is originally from Sedbergh. She says:
“It’s hugely exciting to have one of my plays performed in two major UK cities in the space of a single month.
“Not only am I very proud of On me, but I am also impressed by the amount of talent invested in these two thought-provoking productions.”
On me will be directed by Alison Griffin and performed at the Questors Theater in Ealing from July 18-22 as part of the Questors Festival of New Theatre, then from July 27-30 a separate cast will perform the play at Seven Oaks in Manchester as part of the part of the Greater Manchester Fringe festival.
Helen Parry will direct the Manchester run with production company Dangerous To Know and will include a performance by BSL.
Caroline is a recent graduate of the University of Manchester’s MA Playwriting course.
